Analysis of Large-Scale Insect Declines: Influence of Habitat Types and Level of Human Activity

Abstract:

This project studies large-scale insect declines, but we have specifically chosen three local sites to analyze as part of our contribution to the nationwide study. This project includes a sampling methodology specific to capturing desired data, which in this research is insect biomass. Our methodology included the setting of specific insect traps as well as the collection of living samples and submerging them in a killing/preservation agent upon trapping. The samples were then analyzed in a laboratory setting where they were weighed and observed. Results were recorded and data was compiled into graphs.
