Fabrication of a Flat Field Panel
Abstract:
Flat Field Panels (FFPs) play a crucial role in scientific astronomical imaging systems, providing a uniform reference surface essential for calibration and testing. These panels are designed to ensure that the optical system’s response is consistent across the entire field of view, enabling accurate measurements of celestial objects. Chose materials that met the spectral and physical requirements of the FFP. Considering factors such as reflectivity, durability, and uniformity. Common materials include diffuse reflectors, optical diffusers, and (or) specialized coatings. Created a detailed design plan that includes the dimensions, structure, and layout of the FFP. Accounted for features like mounting points, compatibility with different filters, and considerations for uniform illumination. Developed a step-by-step fabrication plan, outlining the procedures for assembling the FFP. Built the FFP and documented the fabrication process meticulously for future reference. Based upon the results of calibration and data analysis, we’ve considered necessary improvements and adjustments to the FFP design and fabrication process. To reiterate on the design and to optimize its performance, there needs to be a few things that need to be achieved through further work/research.Title
