Facilitating 3D Printing for Custom Face Masks: Supporting Medical Personnel and Veterans
Abstract:
From the beginning of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), there have been issues with fit, including gaps, improper sizing, failing designs, and discomfort. During the COVID-19 pandemic, mask fitment was a major issue: N95 masks were hard to fit on small faces, and surgical masks were painful for larger faces.ยน By enabling 3D printing of custom-fitting face masks that ensure no gaps and comfortable designs, while maintaining the effectiveness of N94 masks, we can revolutionize PPE. Starting with medical personnel and veterans, this innovation can transform an established field.Title
